The Federal Government has announced the resumption of construction at Nigeria’s National Library headquarters in June, ending a 13-year halt since 2012. Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to completing this vital *human capital development (SDG 4 – Quality Education)* project, originally conceived in 1981.
The library, a national monument, will preserve knowledge for future generations, supporting *SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)*. Alausa highlighted the administration’s dedication to youth empowerment *(SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth)* and inclusive development *(SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities)*.
National Librarian Prof. Chinwe Anunobi stressed the facility’s role in safeguarding Nigeria’s intellectual heritage *(SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities)*, ensuring access to critical information for decades. The project reflects renewed political will to advance sustainable development.
