The World Bank and European Commission are strengthening their partnership under the Global Gateway strategy to finance high-impact infrastructure and create jobs.An initial set of 18 projects in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure across Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America will form the core of this collaboration. The alliance aims to move projects beyond financing to deliver tangible results: local jobs, services, and sustainable economic growth.

The partnership focuses on building vibrant private sectors, especially in resource-rich countries with large youth populations. By aligning investments and combining the World Bank’s capacity for reform with Global Gateway’s strategic funding, the initiative seeks to unlock significant private capital. This approach supports the World Bank’s job-creation pillars: investing in foundational sectors like education and transport, fostering business-friendly environments, and backing the private sector. Global Gateway complements this with quality infrastructure, regulatory support, and local skills training. The goal is to drive productivity and regional integration through sustainable, equal partnerships.
