The 2025 Annual Meetings AgriConnect underscored the transformative potential of agriculture in driving job creation, ensuring food security, and stimulating economic growth.
A central event featured leaders and farmers demonstrating how strategic partnerships, technological innovation, and targeted investment can elevate small-scale agriculture into a powerhouse for widespread prosperity.

Despite family farms—numbering half a billion—producing roughly 80% of the world’s food, many of these farmers remain in poverty due to a lack of modern tools and market access. In response, the World Bank Group launched AgriConnect, a new initiative designed to transform these smallholder operations into sustainable engines of growth and food security.
The session provided concrete strategies for leveraging finance and technology to boost agricultural productivity and create quality jobs. As one speaker powerfully stated, “Farmers are a vital part of the global economy. The opportunities are immense, and it is irresponsible not to provide the support needed to unlock their full potential.”
