Russia Halts Recruitment of Kenyans for Ukraine War Amid African Concerns

Russia has agreed to halt the recruitment of Kenyan citizens for military operations in Ukraine, following escalating concerns across African nations about their nationals being drawn into the conflict. The announcement came from Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi during a Moscow meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday. “I want to make clear that we have now agreed that Kenyans shall not be enlisted through the Ministry of Defense,” Mudavadi stated. “They will no longer be eligible for enlisting and special operations.” The development addresses growing apprehensions among multiple African countries regarding their citizens’ involvement in the ongoing war.
