Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will depart the English club when the season ends—an early exit for one of football’s most prominent stars.
The 33-year-old Egypt international, who scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, reached an agreement to leave a year before his contract expired, the Premier League champions announced.
Salah’s ninth season saw a dip in form and a public fallout with manager Arne Slot after he was dropped from matches. “Unfortunately the day has come,” Salah posted on Instagram, expressing deep gratitude to the club and city.
Liverpool called him “one of the greatest players in its history.” Salah leaves as a free agent, with no transfer fee. A Saudi club’s bid was rejected in 2023.
