US, Israel, and Argentina voted against a UN resolution urging recognition of the transatlantic slave trade as a crime against humanity and seeking reparations for African nations. Introduced by Ghanaian President John Mahama, the measure passed the General Assembly with 123 votes in favor. Fifty-two countries, mostly European nations including the UK, Portugal, and Spain, abstained.
