To ensure a hitch free and peaceful Eid el-Fitr Sallah celebrations across Yobe State, the Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, has convened a high-level security meeting with heads of security agencies to strategize.
The meeting was held at the Government House Damaturu after reviewing the current security situation and putting in place proactive measures for a hitch free festive period.
The Governor was represented by his Deputy, Hon Idi Barde Gubana, who commended the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring peace, law and order in the State.
The meeting equally appreciated the efforts of the traditional rulers and community leaders in conflict resolutions in their various domains.
In a joint press briefing, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Abubakar Abdul Osun, said that the meeting was to analyse the security architecture ensuring peaceful Eid Fitr.
He urged parents and guardians to monitor the movements of their children and wards during the festivities, and also warned them on reckless behaviours and driving.
He prayed for peaceful conduct of Eid Fitr across the State.
Speaking about the security situation in Gujba axis, the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd.), disputed rumours on the notice given by the Boko Haram to some communities in Gujba axis to vacate from the area.
Eid el-Fitr, which lasts for one day, is expected to take place on Sunday, March 30, 2025 or Monday, March 31, 2025, following the sighting of the moon.
