The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested seven individuals for operating illegal oil dumps in Abuja’s Jahi/Katampe district. The raid, part of a nationwide anti-oil theft initiative led by Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, followed a tip-off.

CSC Afolabi Babawale, NSCDC spokesperson, confirmed the arrests, while CG Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS) Commander AS Dandaura disclosed that five of the seven targeted dumps were successfully dismantled.

The suspects—Akande Olusola (48), Anas Usman (33), Jonathan Onekutu (45), Uchenna Kelechi (44), Chukwuma Solomon (37), Monday Israel (34), and Bello (33)—were apprehended with substantial evidence, including 45,000 litres of suspected stolen diesel, multiple trucks, pumping machines, generators, and storage tanks.
Seized vehicles included a white truck (GYA-777XA), Mercedes Benz peddler trucks, a DAF CF truck, a Toyota Matrix, two Toyota Corolla cars, and buses modified with concealed tanks.

Commander Dandaura emphasized that the suspects will face prosecution, with the NSCDC’s Legal Department handling the case to ensure justice and deterrence.
