After a year-long delay, the Federal Government has begun paying contractors working on projects for various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
The development was confirmed by Bawa Mokwa, a spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF). He stated that the decision to resume payments followed a meeting held last week between government officials and the affected contractors.The move addresses growing concerns from lawmakers and contractors over the suspended disbursements since 2024. Legislators like Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi and Hon. Obi Aguocha had recently urged the government to clear the arrears, warning of widespread project abandonment and financial strain.With confirmation from the OAGF, the payments are now underway, providing much-needed relief to the contractors.
