Airbus shares fell sharply after revealing a software glitch affecting nearly half the global A320 fleet over the weekend. The issue, potentially caused by intense solar radiation corrupting flight control data, impacted almost 6,000 aircraft.
The planemaker stated the vast majority have now received necessary modifications, with fewer than 100 jets still awaiting fixes. Airbus apologized for resulting passenger and airline delays but emphasized prioritizing safety above all else.
While most aircraft required a software update, some older models needed hardware repairs. The company had announced the recall on Friday to address the critical flaw.
