FIFA has revealed that the Village People will perform their classic song “Y.M.C.A.” at Friday’s World Cup draw in Washington, D.C. The track is notably embraced as an anthem by President Donald Trump, who often dances to it at rallies. The event will be held at the Kennedy Center, a venue now chaired by Trump following his board takeover earlier this year.
The draw ceremony, co-hosted by Heidi Klum, Kevin Hart, and Danny Ramirez, will also feature performances by Andrea Bocelli and a duet from Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger. Following the draw, the Village People will close with their iconic hit.
In a related move, FIFA will present its own Peace Prize during the event, widely anticipated to be awarded to President Trump. This follows public statements from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who attended Trump’s inauguration and previously suggested Trump deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. FIFA’s decision to create the award was made without consulting its own Council or vice presidents.
