Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, the voice of legendary girl group TLC, has long used music to champion health advocacy. Despite living with sickle cell disease—a condition she has publicly shared since 1996—she helped lead TLC to become the best-selling American girl group, winning four Grammys.

Now, she’s partnering with Gilead to reimagine TLC’s hit “Creep” as “So We PrEP,” aiming to spark crucial conversations about HIV prevention in Black communities. The initiative addresses stark disparities: Black people accounted for 42% of new HIV diagnoses in 2022 but only 14% of PrEP users, and Black women represented half of all diagnoses among women in 2023.For
T-Boz, music remains the most powerful way to unite people and advance dialogue. Having addressed HIV in TLC’s iconic “Waterfalls,” she continues leveraging her platform to promote education, resources, and care for communities in need.
