ABUJA — The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has called on the Federal Government to accelerate the renegotiation process with university workers, emphasizing the need for sincerity and fairness.
In his Eid-el-Fitr message, SSANU National President, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, congratulated the Muslim Ummah on completing Ramadan while extending condolences to victims of the recent Maiduguri bombings.
Ibrahim highlighted the mounting economic pressures facing university workers amid persistent inflation, urging government at all levels to implement concrete welfare measures and wage adjustments to cushion the harsh effects on Nigerian workers.
“The stability of our universities, and indeed the progress of our nation, rests on how well we value and support those who keep the system running,” the statement read.
He called on members to remain steadfast, emphasizing that better days “must be pursued with clarity, courage, and purpose.”
