In a major push to develop local talent, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has launched a nationwide Human Capital Development initiative. The “Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Program” aims to equip over 10,000 Nigerians with in-demand technical and professional skills over two to three years.

This initiative targets critical skill gaps identified through industry consultation and expatriate quota reviews. The curriculum focuses on ten high-demand areas, including sub-sea engineering, underwater welding, automation, helicopter piloting, seafaring, and digital technologies like AI and cloud computing.
Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe stated the program fulfills the NOGICD Act, ensuring Nigerians receive first consideration for training and employment. Applicants must hold an OND/HND/BSc in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, or related disciplines to be eligible.
