In a deadly, nearly 10-hour air assault, Russia bombarded Ukraine with dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones. The strike coincided with expected U.S.-brokered peace talks, a timing Ukraine’s foreign minister highlighted by stating Russia continues its “war plan” to kill and destroy while diplomats talk. President Zelensky reported the attack targeted energy infrastructure, leaving over 600,000 consumers without power.
Residents described the terror of the prolonged assault. One woman, Margarita, who had moved to Kyiv to escape fighting in the Donetsk region, was injured when an explosion hit her apartment building. As rescue efforts wound down, displaced residents were left to survey the damage and cover shattered windows, their lives upended by the relentless attack.
